2009 News ArchiveCity Brokers Xmas Message to the British People (December 15, 2009)
GET STUFFED!
City Brokers Tullett Preban sent the above message to British turkeys, (sorry, taxpayers) yesterday when they said they were looking to move abroad.
Why? They don’t want to pay any tax on their bonuses!
Such is the public anger with city bonuses that establishment politicians are forced to appear to do something. But the tax is widely seen as a pathetically weak ‘one-off’ tax, merely meant as a gentle rap on the knuckles with the message that it’ll all be ’normal’ again soon.
But obviously that’s not enough for Tullett Preban. They, and those like them, want to pay nothing for having taken the economy to ruin while making fortunes out of speculation and spivvery in Britain.
They’ve had our money to bail out their entire industry, and now they want us to pay for it all as their Westminster parties plan to hit us with increased taxes, unemployment and slashed public services. It’s a brutal lesson to working people about who really runs things here and how the vast majority of us have no say. A lesson that we cannot control what we don’t own, and why only public ownership of the banking and finance industries will allow us to deal with this crisis.
Democratic control of finance may not be everyone’s choice of Xmas present, but at least it would be a guarantee against being burgled while we’re out of the house!
We’ve had plenty of volunteers to drive the likes of Tullett Preban to the cliffs of Dover. Meanwhile on the same day it was discovered that the workers who add most to an economy are hospital cleaners. We can be thankful that these ordinary working people- despite their low pay - aren’t fleeing the country! Click here to return to the 2009 News Archive page |
